Prototype Conversion is a project I started in 2016 to compliment a mod made early in the SA2 Modding days. It was a mod made by "ItsEasyActually" in 2013 called simply "Trial Sonic."
Video's of this mod in action can be found in the Video Page. Prototype Conversion started life as a simple Titlescreen mod, made to compliment the Trial Sonic Mod.
This is the original TitleScreen after it was finalized. It looks a bit different today thanks to Stachekip providing a cleaner, higher definition image of the Original Logo.
This is the original Trial Sonic Mod made by "ItsEasyActually". It's obsolete now, but this was a huge thing back in 2013. Fun Fact: I beat ItsEasyActually to making it Mod Manager compatible.
In 2018, I started working on a Menu that was based on beta assets left in the game's files, I had to remake the text, but it still maintained the style.
The Main Menu as of 2018. You can see the old HUD for the menus.
Prototype Conversion used to be called "Trial Conversion" due to the original scope of the mod being far simpler at the time. The original plan was just to edit the Titlescreen, the Menus, and music.
As the project became bigger in scope, I decided to rename it, and add things from the various Prototypes found by the community over the years.
Once the project changed scope to focus on multiple prototype assets, I implemented Battle DLC Support, a seperate mod that changed the Titlescreen to be that of the one seen at Nintendo Space World 2001.
In Sonic Adventure 2: The Trial; the Fire Somersault had different graphics found in "objtex_common.prs" instead of being in Sonic's "s_efftex.prs". This image is from my early attempt to reimplement the old graphics.
The Chaos Emeralds changed colors A LOT during development, but it creates a lot of inconsistancies. Too keep things consistant, I swapped the Yellow and White Emeralds.
Super Shadow changed color at some point in development from white gold to a light gold, this texture was preserved in cutscene textures like "e0205_texture.prs".
